My personal background: I was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. I married my best friend in September of 2019, and we currently live in Northeast Ohio. We have been blessed with four beautiful children (two sets of twins). With my first set of twins we faced several breastfeeding challenges over their first year of life (supplementing, torticollis, mastitis, triple-feeding, adjusting my own chronic medications, etc.) which eventually led to me exclusively pumping. That journey sparked my passion for lactation and women's health. With my second set, I was determined to exclusively breastfeed. Although we faced some new challenges this time around (tongue-tie, retained placenta, bottle-refusal, etc.), my second nursing journey has been a beautiful experience and we are still going strong after one year. My hope is to use my personal and professional experiences to help others achieve their breastfeeding goals as well as provide education on the use of medications during pregnancy and lactation.
My professional background: I earned my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Duquesne University (Pittsburgh, PA) in 2018 and completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at The MetroHealth System (Cleveland, OH) in 2019. Since then, I've been practicing as a Clinical Pharmacist specializing in Internal Medicine/ Transitions of Care in Akron. I also enjoy teaching and I am an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Northeast Ohio Medical University (Rootstown, OH). I am a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) and a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC). I have completed additional certifications in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Pediatrics, and Low Milk Supply.
